In 2015, the Member States of the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Agenda to address the political and economic challenges our world faces today. At the heart of this agenda are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to eradicate poverty and other forms of deprivation while addressing health, education, economic growth, and reducing inequalities. Inspired by the vision of the SDGs and rooted in the foundation of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the Sustainable Development Association (SDA) was established in Ankara in 2017 with a mission to support rights-based initiatives for sustainable development in Türkiye.
Our work at SDA spans numerous critical areas, including combating poverty and hunger, promoting quality education, achieving gender equality, reducing inequalities, fostering sustainable cities and communities, advancing renewable energy, ensuring responsible consumption and production, improving health, addressing climate action, preventing conflicts, and promoting peace and justice. To achieve these objectives, we prioritize partnerships with various stakeholders.
At the Sustainable Development Association, we recognize that sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This principle guides all our activities, ensuring we protect the planet’s endangered resources and maintain nature’s balance. We believe that an integrated approach to sustainable development, which combines environmental, economic, and social policies, is crucial for our future. Since our establishment, all boards, employees, and volunteers of SDA have focused on social cohesion and inclusion, contributing significantly to skill development, awareness-raising, and integration for youth, migrants, and diverse segments of society. These efforts include projects funded through Erasmus+ KA1, KA2, KA3 programs and the European Solidarity Corps, as well as other national and EU initiatives.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain steadfast in our commitment to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world. Your support and dedication are the cornerstones of our success, and together, we can build a brighter future for generations to come.
